چکیده

Dr. Felipe Slaviero – Edifício das Clínicas Rua Teixeira Soares, 885 / 10o andar 99010-901 Passo Fundo RS Brasil. E-mail: [email protected]. Intracranial arachnoid cysts are congenital collections of fluid that develop within the arachnoid membrane because of splitting or duplication of this structure. It corresponds to 1% of all non-traumatic intracranial mass lesions. Arachnoid cysts most frequently occur in the middle cranial fossa, followed by the posterior fossa, convexity, and suprasellar region. Middle cranial fossa cysts are more often associated with subdural hematoma, subdural hygroma, and intracystic hemorrhage. Usually, the patients present with signs and symptoms of intracranial hypertension, mainly headache and vomiting. We report two cases of arachnoid cysts associated with concurrent subdural collections, describing their clinical presentation, radiographic findings and neurosurgical management.

Spontaneous Subdural Hematoma and Intracystic Hemorrhage in an Arachnoid Cyst

We report the case of 22-year-old man with nontraumatic intracystic hemorrhage into a middle cranial fossa arachnoid cyst associated with a contiguous subacute subdural hematoma. Arachnoid cysts are benign intra-arachnoidal fluid collections frequently detected incidentally during neuroimaging. Rare complications of arachnoid cysts such as intracystic hemorrhage or subdural hematomas and subdur...

Intracranial arachnoid cyst associated with traumatic intracystic hemorrhage and subdural haematoma.

BACKGROUND Brain arachnoid cysts are fluid collections of developmental origin. They are commonly detected incidentally in patients imaged for unrelated symptoms. CASE DESCRIPTION A 15-year-old healthy boy with a recent history of head trauma experienced headache that gradually worsened over the course of 10 days. He underwent CT and MRI brain scans which revealed the presence of subdural hae...

Arachnoid cyst with rupture into the subdural space.

Arachnoid cysts which develop in relation to the cerebral hemispheres are usually found in the middle cranial fossa. These cysts are usually asymptomatic but can produce symptoms if there is haemorrhage into the cyst or the development of an associated subdural hematoma. Recent publications have emphasised the association of arachnoid cysts of the middle fossa with subdural haematomas. This rep...

Bilateral Subdural Hygroma in a Case with Sylvian Arachnoid Cyst

Arachnoid cysts usually present during childhood and are identified incidentally. When symptomatic, the most common presentation includes headache and seizure. The popular treatment for this lesion is su...
